What's Next

It's the dawning of a new year and, we hope, a reprive from a tumultuous 2020. We are glad to have come through it, though we are not unscathed; we all have been wounded in one way or another.

My father used to say the most important word is "next." That's  what I'd like us to discuss today: What's next for you, for us, for this nation, as you see it?

Yesterday we talked about how recent events might be influencing your political sttitude and choices. Today I'd like you to expand a bit on that theme and tell us what's nexton your agenda.

Leid Stories discusses the need to be focused on our collective aims and objectives and defending our interests and rights through organized action.

Case in point: The utter failure of Joe Biden and Democrats to fight for and win a sensible and fair relief package for all.

 StopThis Bullet Train!

We haven't even made an official switch to a new administration, yet the folks are acting as though they've seen the blueprints and everything will be fine once Trump's gone and Joe Biden's at the helm.

No overview of Trump's term and where multiple bodies are buried? No criticisms of domestic and foreign policies? No discussions about the price we must pay for Trump's serious blunders and incompetence? No hearings on what has to be straightened out/corrected now and at what cost?

Biden and his folks are acting like traffic cops at the scene of a really bad accident -- "Come now, move along. Nothing to see here."

But there's a lot to see, even if Biden is reluctant to be our tour guide.

This what we're discussing on Leid Stories today.

Just a small group of U.S. billionaires have increased their wealth so much during the coronavirus pandemic that they could have given $3,000 stimulus checks to every man, woman and child in the country and still be richer than they were nine months ago," according to an article in the current issue of The Guardian.

Can an economy this lopsided be fixed? If so, how?

Can any country have such stark, entrenched  inequality and still call itself democratic? How would you describe such a society?

Owing to the response to yesterday's discussion, with more people wanting to talk than time to accommodate them, we continue with yesterday's discussion.

Listeners were asked to address either of the following questions:

Have recent events and experiences significantly reshaped your political thinking and outlook?

If so, in what ways?

>> In your view, what is/should be Donald Trump's place in history?

Share your thoughts on Leid Stories live. Call 888-874-4888 and be heard.

This what we're discussing on Leid Stories today.

Coronavirus vaccine distribution begins today across the country. But in many parts of the country there is great distrust of the government and the vaccine. During a national health crisis and emergency, what should the government's response be to those opposed to the government-sanctioned vaccines?

>> Why are only government-approved vaccines approved? What if a person will accept only alternative treatments, not vaccines?
