TOPIC: Donald Trump: Humanitarian--and Human--Disaster
More than 10 million people in the United States have been diagnosed and are suffering with Covid-19. Two hundred and forty-one thousand have died from the disease, and health authorities project 100,000 more Covid-19 victims will die in the next two months.
By any measure, the Covid-19 pandemic has had, and continues to have, catastropic effect in the United States. Not that one can tell from the priorities and urgent concerns of President Donald Trump. He's AWOL on the issue-- what with making the case that he lost a second shot at the presidency because of (unproven) pro-Biden voter fraud.
So uninvolved in leading a response to the Covid-19 crisis, both at home and abroad, the U.S. and world health community have come to regard him ad a "humanitarian disaster."
It's the subject of our discussion on Leid Stories today

Leid Stories discuss the bizarre state of affairs. Donald J. Trump, a former president defeated in his 2020 reelection bid, says massive voter fraud, engineered by his Democrat enemies, has robbed him of a second four-year term and he has proof.
Joseph R. Biden, former vice president to Barack H. Obama, had clinched the presidential spot in the just-concluded national election and immediately began planning his administration.
Problem: The official changing of the guard occurs on Jan. 20, but Trump so far has made no arrangements for a formal transfer of power to Biden. Instead, he continues with his regular administrative duties, indicating he's still the president.
It's a pins-and-needles situation as the stalemate continues. A newly elected president is waiting in the wings, but an angry, defeated former president is determined to scuttle his tenure even before it officially begins.
Leid Stories asks: How will this crisis be resolved?

The U.S. continues to ignore the clamor for democracy in Puerto Rico, which has been a U.S. colony for 122 years and has been petitioning for statehood, overwhelmingly supported by the people.
President Trump has proven, and continues to prove, that he is a continuing threat to the security and welfare of the people and government of the United States. Congress utterly has failed to address the problem. If Trump is reelected, will Congress continue to aid and abet Trump's outrageous and often illegal conduct and actions?

Election 2020 According to Baseball Great Yogi Berra
Two of baseball great Yogi Berra's famous sayings perfectly describe just where things are right now with the 2020 presidential election: "It's like deja-vu all over again," and "It ain't over 'til it's over."
Election Day 2020 appears to be repeating the vote-count debacle of 2016, when Hillary Clinton ran against Donald Trump and found herself snared by vote-count problems that sank her presidential hopes.
Like Berra said, "It's like deja vu all over again"
Now, with Election 2020, former Vice President Joe Biden is fighting to whittle away Trump's vote count as ballots from Republican battlegrounds are still being counted and could put Trump over the top.
Trump's challenge--and Biden's fightback--over the final vote won't be over until, like Berra said, "it's over."

An Election Day We Should Not Soon Forget
It's a very special day today in the United States of America. We should take it all in slowly, studying the events and details of the day like archaeologists unearthing a major find.
More than reports about candidates' wins and losses, we should get definitive answers about the state of our democracy. Is it government by the people and for the people, or is it government despite the people?
The results of this Election Day will have profound and far-reaching effect for years to come.

Leis Stories - No Quick End Or Smart Fixes for This Election - 11.02.20

Whatever the results of the presidential election, one thing’s for sure: it won't be over and done with for many, many years.
Systemic failures of elections and national policies prior to Election 2020 are compounded by new ones that are now deep within the fabric of American life and law and are far-reaching. Fixes are neither easy nor politically doable. Rabid bipartisanship has killed consensus building.
So, as in many other areas of our lives, the people must take on a larger share of the responsibility for confronting and solving problems that plague them and their communities
