Donald Trump, basking in the glory of his speech of reprimands to UN member-nations and threats of war against U.S. enemies the previous day, held a “working luncheon” at the Palace Hotel yesterday with a handful of African leaders, several of whom he met for the first time. Essentially, it was a crass, one-sided sales pitch to open up African markets so that U.S. companies and wealthy individuals can make more money.
Supercharged U.S. capitalism was on the menu, but Trump’s guests appeared to have little or no appetite for it.
